Sewing and crafting

When I first  started sewing it was on a sewing machine that was my moms and it was her first electric machine. I remember when she got  it she was so happy with it. My sisters also sewed on it. After my mom died my dad gave it to me and I made my daughters a lot of dresses and sun suits .  Now that I have 4 sewing machines and a serger  I look back and think about the treadle machine my grandmother sewed on for years. If she could see what kind of sewing machines that are on the market now she would love it! I think she would make my machines tap dance .  As I am getting ready to move into a bigger shop and start up my sewing classes I think about my grandmother all the time about how she would of been really successful in a sewing business.  She made a lot of really beautiful items.  One thing that she made and my mom kept them  for years are rag rugs. Now the more craft shows I go to I have seen them. they have become more popular with people and they are making them out of blue  jeans . I bought two of them a few years ago at the craft fair in  Streator IL and they have held up really well. Epically  since they get washed a lot with the number of people in my house.  I knowmy grand mother spent a lot of time sewing and working hard to keep her home during the depression and I am so happy to have the memories of her and what my mother told me about her as she was growing up I know things have changed a lot  but we can make it just like they did.
